Ophelia - Merchant Reviews

The dreamy and eerie scene is the perfect description for Ophelia. Ophelia is the brainchild of Australian designer Ashley Sutton, whose signature fantasy theme is shared at The Iron Fairies and J Boroski Mixology in Bangkok.

Ophelia's theme is inspired by peacocks, and draws on Hong Kong's compact spaces and the depth of the old days, with a dark dark green hue and multiple alcoves and semi-private rooms. Luxurious velvet furnishings are combined with screen-painted bamboo, industrial art, cast iron entryways, peacock feather wall lamps and more. The waiter is dressed in a cheongsam, and the girl with a fan is lazily lying on the high bed behind the bar, full of secret, extravagance and detachment Oriental style.

Ophelia's wine list is also designed to match the scene here, the cocktail "cheongsam" is made of tequila, homemade pomegranate liqueur, lemon juice, lime juice and cinnamon, etc., served in a birdcage, exotic style, the beauty seen by the eye through a glass of "cheongsam", the visual feeling into a taste experience. However, in Ophelia, the visual shape of the cocktail is more than the taste of the wine itself, and it is more suitable for feeling the atmosphere of the environment.

Here, wine is no longer the only protagonist. The regular evening program adds to the mood of Ophelia, with live performances by international DJs or live dancing being the highlight. Live performances don't start until after 10:30 p.m., and every day is different, so it's a matter of luck to see your favorite shows.

If you want to sit in a booth, order at least a bottle of champagne, otherwise you can only choose the position of the bar, and if the seats are full, you can only stand. Cocktails are much cheaper before 9 p.m., and you can drink a 140 Hong Kong dollar cocktail for 90 Hong Kong dollars. However, on weekends, the booth requires a minimum spending of HK$2,000.

Ophelia's customers are mostly foreigners, different languages are spoken, and the service and wine list are mainly in English. Shorts, flip-flops or sleeveless suspenders are not allowed, long pants and shirts are best for men and long skirts for women. In addition, Ophelia's scenes are dark, and the themes of the performances are sometimes relatively explicit, so drinkers who don't like this kind of environment should go with caution.

cheongsam
The striking shape and combination make this cocktail a signature of Ophelia. The base tone of agave, with pomegranate wine, lemon juice, cinnamon, etc., is installed in a birdcage-shaped utensil, with a sweet and sour taste, with an exotic style.
