Shanghai Puli Hotel - Institutional Reviews

Located in the Ocean Plaza between West Nanjing Road and Middle Yan'an Road, The Puli Hotel Shanghai overlooks the greenery of Jing'an Park and leads through the hotel's sky corridor to the international Grade A office building and top shopping mall of the "Ocean Plaza". Although located in the heart of Shanghai's bustling Jing'an district, The Purity offers a tranquil experience and is the first luxury hotel in Shanghai to be positioned as a "cosmopolitan paradise".

Jointly created by LAYAN DESIGN GROUP, an Australian design company, and Jaya Ibrahim, a boutique hotel designer, The Puli Hotel cleverly integrates Chinese elements with Southeast Asian style, simple and capable materials, and calm and restrained tones. Different from the rigid star standards of traditional Western-style luxury hotels, Puli has more of its own unique style. A series of static and dynamic light projections created by Australian lighting design company TheFlamingBeacon, the space has a quiet atmosphere; Curtains in public areas are made of cotton, linen, silk and other materials, and are woven from thin plant rattans, or simply covered with painted stainless steel mesh, which is refreshing.

It has been 9 years since the opening of The Puli Hotel Shanghai, but it has maintained a good level of software and hardware and won a number of industry awards. For three consecutive years, it has been ranked as one of the "Top 25 Luxury Hotels in China" by TripAdvisor World Travelers' Choice, one of the Top 10 Hotels in China on the 2018 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, one of the "Designers' Favorite Hotels" in 2015, and the "No. 5 of the Top 40 Hotels in China" by Condé Nast Traveler.

The hotel building has 22 floors, a total of 229 guest rooms, the price of the basic room type on the official website will fluctuate according to market changes per night, about 2400 yuan, and the room rate charged on the official website booking platform is different from that of some hotels, the double price of the Puli Superior King Room, Puli Deluxe Room, Puli Classic Room, Puli Classic Deluxe Room, Puli Special Suite and Puli Deluxe Suite will be 400 yuan higher than the single price, but there is no such requirement for booking on major travel website platforms, and the price is relatively affordable.

All rooms are equipped with LCD TV, Bose sound system, MP3 interface, DVD system, automatic coffee machine, safe, broadband Internet, sponge protection mattress, and imported linen and cotton yarn woven bed cover to ensure that guests can sleep comfortably. The bathrooms are equipped with tropical rain showers, but they are not well drained and prone to water accumulation, the bathtub is next to the window, and the en-suite bathroom is equipped with a 15-inch LCD TV. The soundproofing of the room is not good, and the sound of whether it is facing the street or the corridor can easily be transmitted into the house.

One of only two Anatara Spas in the country is located at The Puli Hotel Shanghai, which was ranked 6th in the 2014 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice "Best Spa in China" and won the 2014 Time Out Shanghai Best Hotel Spa.

Awarded one star in the 2018 Michelin Guide Shanghai, PHÉNIX Restaurant & Bar is located on the second floor of The Puli Hotel and officially opened in March 2016. In the lobby of the hotel, there is a "long bar", a 32-metre-long bar table carved from sturdy teak, connecting the lobby, outdoor water features, reception lounge and wine cellar, and the open-air garden offers the largest and most complete selection of champagne and red wine in Shanghai.

The Puli Hotel Shanghai is obviously more willing to provide guests with a "paradise" to escape from the distractions of the world and enjoy life, and the level of business facilities and services is more disadvantageous than that of hotels of the same level. With an open-air garden on the first floor, a meeting room at Phiniss Restaurant & Bar on the second floor, a multi-purpose meeting room on the third floor, and a multi-purpose space that occupies the entire floor of the 26th floor but can accommodate up to 150 people, it is clear that it is not suitable for large-scale business events.
