Most of the vegetarian restaurants in Shanghai are concentrated in the Jing'an and Xuhui areas, and there are very few vegetarian restaurants around Pudong, and Sanwei Vegetable House is one of the more popular. The restaurant is across the street from the Yaohan business district, and the daily customers who come to the store are not only residents from the surrounding area, but also many professionals who work in the surrounding area.
The two founders of the restaurant are vegetarian lovers, one of the founders, Miss Tang, graduated from the Department of Chinese, because of her love for Mr. Lu Xun, when she founded the restaurant, she named the restaurant "Sanwei Vegetable House", hoping to combine words with vegetable food. To this day, the owner's wish is still being fulfilled: classic poems are hung on the walls of the restaurant, a book is placed on each table, and a book review is written and handed to the waiter during the meal, and the whole order can be discounted by 10%...... Many details show the unique bookish temperament of Sanwei Vegetable House.
The other founder, Zhai Xuesong, is both the owner and the chef, and the restaurant's dishes are all made by him. Zhai Xuesong had many years of catering experience before founding Sanwei Vegetable House, and he has a good understanding of many cuisines, so the restaurant has a wide range of dishes. There are not only local dishes such as lotus pond stir-fry and lotus root, but also down-to-earth Sichuan-style dishes such as spicy chicken, stir-fried pork and small hot pot, as well as Western-style meals represented by McNuggets and Orleans grilled wings.
Sanwei Vegetable House is located on Nanquan Road in Pudong, turn from Weifang Road to Nanquan Road and walk a few steps to see a piece of green plants, which is the location of the restaurant. The simple blue plaid sofas, classic poems and bamboo curtains hanging from the walls, and the books on each table make the space feel more like an old-fashioned study than a dining room. After the customer is seated, the service staff will serve the tea, and at the same time inform the customer to scan the QR code on the table to order by themselves. In addition to the serving, the service staff will basically not be near the table, and most of the service is self-service, but if customers have any questions, the service staff can also answer them patiently, and the service level is decent. The restaurant is just off the road, parking is not very easy and it is not recommended to get there by car.
