Founded by Taiwanese Ms. Ann Chiang, Avita specializes in traditional English afternoon tea, and after opening its first branch in Shanghai in 2011, it quickly became popular in China, and now has branches in more than 40 cities in China. Ann Chiang once appeared in the documentary "Tea" as a representative of British tea, and was called "the woman who knows the most about British tea" by the media.
Although Anvita's tea mix is not as rich as TWG, it is far more selective than other five-star hotels. The tea products it can provide include seven categories: selected origin tea, Qizuo tea garden tea, special flavor tea, fruit juice fruit tea, Avita tea sauce tea, Luba tea, and English iced tea. The menu is accompanied by pictures and explanations, and the samples of the display shelves in the tea house also help guests smell the fragrance of tea, which is convenient for guests to choose. If you're new to British tea, it's recommended to start with Earl Grey, the first of its kind in the British tea, based on Chinese Keemun Black Tea and Indian Darjeeling Black Tea, blended with Italian bergamot oil, perfect for all-day drinking. Earl Grey tea is generally brewed stronger, without milk and sugar, and it tastes good.
However, AVA's waiters do not take the initiative to explain, do not have a deep understanding of their own products, and the suggestions given to customers are not very targeted, which is still a certain gap with TWG. In addition, Avita's teapot is not insulated, so the tea soup is easy to cool, so if you have a longer meal, it is better to choose a variety that can be refilled.
Anvita's three-tier set menu is basically a traditional British regional food, with more salty snacks and few sweet varieties, and customers can taste British specialties that are rare in other stores. To the point, Anvita seems to be more traditional in form, and the sweetheart lacks innovation and tastes average. However, scones are still worth trying, they don't taste crispy, but chewy, and the cranberry pulp in them adds to its flavor, even if it is not dipped in sauce, it is very durable with tea; The jam and cream that goes well with scones are acceptable, and two cream knives are served separately that can be spread separately without stealing the flavor, and the way to eat them is exquisite. With the exception of the three-tier set, most of the dim sum is a la carte and refreshments are available throughout the day.
Avita's signature blue façade stands out, the velvet sofas are comfortable, and the seating is usually a small round table, preferably for groups of four. There are warm tips for "please speak softly" in a prominent position in the store, and most of the customers are girlfriends or lovers, and the atmosphere is very good.
