Located on the ground floor of the Four Seasons Hotel, Camelia Restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine, a lounge and alfresco seating, and is one of the city's most emerging options for fashionistas to enjoy life and drinks. Featured in the 2018 Michelin Guide Shanghai restaurant.
Chef Nicola Frizzale from the Apulia region of southern Italy has been at Camelia for more than two and a half years. He has worked in some of Italy's top restaurants and at the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan with renowned Executive Chef Sergio Mei. When Sergio Mei was awarded the title of "Golden Chef of Cannes" in 1991 and "Best Italian Chef" in 1998, it inspired Frizzale even more.
Most of the ingredients in the restaurant are imported from Italy, and the unique flavors that diners enjoy while not neglecting the visual art of plating. From Camelia's semi-open kitchen, you can enjoy the chef making dishes on the spot. Freshly baked pizzas with tomatoes, mushrooms, whitebait fillets, shrimp and pepperoni are baked in a variety of ovens, allowing diners to smell the rich aromas of bruschetta, truffles and mascarpuni cheese as soon as they step into the restaurant.
The à la carte menu features the signature vanilla paper-wrapped silver cod, a refreshing and tender cod served with fresh clams and mussels, and a fresh vanilla aroma on a vanilla paper base. The refreshing cherry tomatoes and pickled olives make the whole dish delicate and richly layered. Carpaccio with tender green asparagus, not too salty, with the aroma of Parmesan cheese. Served with crisp and sweet green vegetable asparagus, the arugula and carpaccio moisturize each other to create a completely different flavor. Grilled king salmon is smooth and tender in the mouth, slightly charred, and served with vegetarian ingredients such as cherry tomatoes and eggplant, with a refreshing taste and excellent flavor, interweaving the unique flavor of fresh and sweet sea and land.
In addition to the à la carte menu, the restaurant also offers a special children's menu. There are dishes for children such as green salad with chicken breast, noodle soup with shredded chicken and vegetables, and pasta with tomato cheese. Vanilla panna cotta with fresh fruit and chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream are also warm desserts that offer more suitable options for family gatherings. The style of the restaurant is in line with the modern style of the hotel, and the service staff is professional and rigorous, and a 15% service charge is charged. Among the many western restaurants in Shanghai, the Four Seasons Hotel's CAMELIA restaurant is a good value for money, and it is worth trying to taste authentic Italian cuisine without the high price.
