As early as 1997, Huamei opened a preparatory department for studying in Canada, and has rich experience in international education. In 2003, the state officially approved Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, and Huamei Sino-Canadian High School was approved by the Guangdong Department of Education, becoming the first batch of schools to carry out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects. In 2012, Mr. Stephen Harper, then Prime Minister of Canada, made a special visit to Huamei, which was the only university he visited during his visit to China, which shows the recognition of Huamei.
Guangzhou Huamei Sino-Canadian International High School, located on Huamei Road in Tianhe District, is one of the two schools in Guangzhou that name the street after the school (the other is Shengshi). CCIS shares the campus with kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, high school and international students, covering an area of more than 160,000 square meters, with a construction area of 100,000 square meters. The school has first-class hardware facilities, including multimedia classrooms, laboratories, piano rooms, dance studios, swimming pools, ecological parks, indoor gymnasiums, golf training grounds, and a municipal first-class library with a collection of 100,000 books and English reading software.
Huamei Sino-Canadian International High School has international programs such as junior high school GIA courses, AP, CIS, IHS, and aviation characteristic classes, among which AP and CIS are the most valued by the school. The AP program is based on the original Ontario curriculum system, combining the relevant AP courses with the Ontario 12th grade 4U course, providing outstanding students with direct admission to the world's top 100 universities and directly obtaining college credits. The AP program not only ensures that students obtain the Ontario high school Chinese certificate, but also helps students get college credits in advance. In addition to AP courses and Ontario courses, the curriculum content also adds domestic high school compulsory courses in the first year of high school. The CIS program is based on the local Canadian high school curriculum, and like the AP humanities course, it emphasizes the humanistic quality of students and integrates rich cultural and artistic courses.
In addition, the GIA curriculum in Huamei Junior High School is divided into full subject classes and single subject classes, the former has half a day of GIA course teaching every day, and the latter has 8 GIA courses per week, and students can obtain American credits for the corresponding grades, laying the foundation for entering excellent high schools at home and abroad; The IHS program, also known as the "Double Degree Class", is set up for high school students, who take the high school courses in China and Ontario, Canada for three years of high school, complete Canadian credits and pass the Ontario High School English Reading and Writing Test, and can obtain high school diplomas from China and Canada, and can apply for domestic universities and foreign universities. In addition to completing high school studies in China and Canada, the aviation characteristic class is co-organized by the school in Zhuhai Yihang General Aviation Co., Ltd., and after completing the high school studies in China and Canada, it receives basic aviation theory and practical education, and after graduation, it goes to the United States professional aviation school for flight professional training and obtains the qualification of flight commercial license.
Compared with other classes, Huamei's AP and CIS classes have higher requirements in terms of grades, and the admitted students generally score about 680 and 630 points in the high school entrance examination, while the admission scores of students in parallel classes are about 500 points, which also leads to the uneven level of students and the unsatisfactory learning style. If you can enter the AP and CIS classes, the learning atmosphere will be much better than that of parallel classes, and the teaching resources will be more abundant.
Huamei is mainly boarding, the girls' dormitories are larger and newer than the men's dormitories, all of them are 4 rooms, with bathrooms and toilets, equipped with wardrobes, desks, shoe cabinets, fans, air conditioners and other facilities, and there are life teachers 24 hours a day management, according to its students, Huamei's dormitory conditions can be called "crushing" compared to other schools. The canteen shared by the students of the primary school has been rated as a food hygiene grade A unit by the Guangzhou Municipal Health Bureau, so there is no need to worry about food safety issues. Huamei also has a first-class university hospital with highly educated and clinically experienced medical staff. In addition, students can be picked up and dropped off by school buses during the weekend holidays, and the network of more than 100 school buses covers the Pearl River Delta and can reach as far as the Chaoshan area.
In 2016 and 2017, a total of 47 students from CCCIS were admitted to the University of Toronto, one of the top 100 universities in the world. 60% of the graduates are admitted to world-renowned universities such as Yale University, University of California, Berkeley, Cornell University, and University of Sydney.
