Splendid China Folk Village-Institutional Reviews

The Splendid China Folk Village is actually two gardens adjacent to each other, namely the Splendid China and the Folk Culture Village. Both are large-scale cultural theme parks built by OCT Group in 1989 and merged into one in 2003. With Phoenix Square as the midpoint, Splendid China in the east, and Folk Culture Village in the west, you can enjoy all the scenery with one ticket.

To put it simply, Splendid China is the Chinese version of the "Window of the World". Covering an area of 300,000 square meters, it is currently the world's largest real-life miniature scenic area, bringing together 82 scenic spots that best represent China's history, culture and magnificent rivers and mountains. Most of these attractions are replicated at a 1:15 scale and are distributed according to the location of the Chinese territory. After entering the gate, from the westernmost Potala Palace, bypassing the Great Wall across the north and south, and then passing through the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, the Forbidden City, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and finally the easternmost Summer Palace, walking in the meantime, it is like measuring China's thousands of years of civilization with footsteps.

The Folk Culture Village covers an area of 200,000 square meters and contains 27 villages of 27 ethnic groups. Beijing's courtyard houses, Buyi stone villages, Mongolian yurts, Tibetan lama temples, Dai small bamboo buildings, Mosuo wooden houses...... There are 27 different styles of buildings built one after another, silently showing their own style. Different from Splendid China, the buildings in the Folk Culture Village are all built in a 1:1 ratio, so you can not only view from afar, but also go in to visit the interiors and fully feel the traditional culture and living customs of various ethnic groups.

In addition to the display of various ethnic buildings, the folk culture village has arranged corresponding ethnic song and dance performances in each village, with a duration of about 20 minutes, and the number of performances and performance times are not the same. In addition, there are also large-scale performances of "Legend of the Desert", "New Oriental Neon Dress" and "Dragon and Phoenix Dance of China" in the Horse War Performance Venue, Impression China Theater and Phoenix Square, which are only once a day. One of the highlights is the equestrian show "Legend of the Desert", which takes the border desert of the ancient Silk Road as the historical background, and integrates war fighting, audience interaction, and war horse fighting, which is very worth seeing. However, it must be reminded that the show only starts at 3 p.m. and will be suspended every Monday due to equipment maintenance.

As with the Window of the World, this kind of miniature landscape and ethnic customs are unique in the era in which they were built. But now that the media and the Internet are developed, the transportation is convenient, and the landscapes and folk customs of various places have been well known. For most people, the Splendid China Folk Village is no longer as attractive as it once was. However, for the elderly and children who are inconvenient to travel far away, it is also a leisure place to quickly understand history and culture.
