Founded in 1992, Huangshan Houkeng Tea Industry (formerly known as Xinming Monkey Village Tea Farm in Huangshan District) is the only Houkui tea enterprise recognized as a "Chinese time-honored brand" by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. In 2011, Houkeng Tea Industry became an authorized enterprise of Taiping Houkui Geographical Indication, with more than 1,600 acres of independent tea gardens, and more than 4,000 acres of tea gardens signed with tea farmers, and has successively built six Taiping Houkui production bases of Houkeng, Hougang, Yanjia, Dongkeng, Wangwangling and Yanjialing, and was rated as a national standardized organic tea demonstration area and industrial demonstration park in Taiping Houkui. In addition, Houkeng Tea Industry has also been awarded the honorary titles of "Anhui Agricultural Industrialization Leading Enterprise" and "China Famous Trademark", and it is also the only tea enterprise unit that participated in the formulation of Taiping Houkui National Standards.
 
Taiping Houkui is native to the Huangshan District (formerly Taiping County) at the northern foot of Huangshan City, Anhui Province, which is blessed with a unique environment, mild climate, abundant rainfall, fertile soil, rain and fog, which is very suitable for the growth of tea trees.
