JBL and Harman Kardon are part of the HARMAN Group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of professional loudspeakers. It pioneered the application of expertise in the field of sound systems for cinemas and studios to the home audio. Back in 1936, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presented JBL with the Technical Excellence Award. Today, JBL sound systems can be found in professional recording studios, famous concert halls, high-end cinemas and prestigious stadiums around the world.
JBL's sound bar is different from Harman Kardon, it focuses on the low-end and does not set foot in the high-end market of 10,000 yuan, and currently has three series, namely the CINEMA STV series, the STV series and the BAR series.
Among them, BAR belongs to the high-end series, and the biggest feature of this series is its large split subwoofer cabinet. Other brands of subwoofers are generally only 6 inches or 6.5 inches, but the BAR series subwoofers are up to 10 inches in size, with more low frequency and more powerful sound. In addition, the BAR series supports the relatively rare Bluetooth 4.2 protocol, and the sound quality is better than most sound bars using the Bluetooth 2.1 protocol. However, the whole BAR series does not support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technology, and the scalability is relatively poor, among which BAR5.1 and BAR3.1 only support Dolby and DTS, and BAR2.1 does not support DTS decoding.
CINEMA STV is JBL's mid-range series, which is known as CINEMA SB in foreign countries, and the two are the same series. There are not many differences within the CINEMA STV series, just minor differences in terms of interfaces. It's a pity that the whole series doesn't support DTS decoding, and the channel only supports 2.1, and the surround effect does not reach the level of the mainstream mid-range sound bar.
The STV series is the entry-level series, and the subwoofer that comes with it is wired. STV135, STV125, and STV115 are not much different overall, all of them are 2.1 channels and only support Dolby decoding. Of the three, only STV135 has an HDMI interface and supports ARC function. The sound quality of the STV135 and STV125 is not much different, but the STV115's subwoofer has two 30W sound drivers, and the total power is larger than that of the STV125 and STV135, and the low frequency is more sufficient.
