As early as the beginning of the 80's, the predecessor of Leica Geosystems GmbH was established in Hong Kong as a consulting office to develop the Chinese market on a large scale, followed by the establishment of Leica Geosystems GmbH (Hong Kong) in 1987. In 1994, with the deepening of China's reform and opening up and the rapid development of the surveying and mapping instrument market, Leica Geosystems made a strategic adjustment to the global market, and the Beijing representative office of Leica Geosystems Co., Ltd. was formally established. In 2004, Leica Geosystems increased its investment in China: Leica Geosystems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established as the technical center of Leica Geosystems in China.
