In 2004, BorgWarner announced that BorgWarner's China headquarters would operate in Shanghai Hongqiao Development Zone, overseeing five branches in China. The new plant in Ningbo Yinzhou Industrial Park is BorgWarner's first wholly-owned plant in China, completed and put into operation in March 2006, covering an area of more than 120 acres with a total investment of 30 million US dollars. The plant will focus on turbocharging systems, transmission systems and Morse products, and will bring in state-of-the-art expertise and production lines directly from the U.S. and German headquarters, as well as BorgWarner's Asia R&D Center to support the introduction and development of new technologies.
Founded in 1998, Warner Shenglong is a joint venture between BorgWarner Thermal Systems and Ningbo Shenglong Group to produce automotive engine cooling system components. The products are mainly various types of fans and silicone oil clutches.
