In December 1949, Denso, one of Toyota Motor Industry Co., Ltd.'s parts factories, was spun off from the Toyota Group, and with a capital of 15 million yen and 1,445 employees, Nippon Denso Co., Ltd. was established and started operations in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Today, DENSO has grown into a global automotive parts supplier group with 184 affiliates in more than 30 countries and regions and 139842 employees (as of March 31, 2014).
