Founded in 1955, the Yakult Group has been producing "Yakult Live Lactic Acid Bacteria Milk Drink" in Japan since 1935 as a world-renowned manufacturer of live lactic acid bacteria milk drinks, and has been producing them in Japan for more than 80 years. Since entering Taiwan in 1964, Yakult has spread to 38 countries and regions around the world, with daily sales of 35 million bottles.

In 2002, Yakult (China) Group first started the promotion of live lactic acid bacteria milk drinks in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, and then entered the Shanghai market in 2003. In order to take root in China and coordinate and develop the cause of Chinese mainland more steadily and effectively, Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd. was established in Shanghai in April 2005. Today, Yakult (China) Group has 4 production bases and 42 subsidiaries in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin and Wuxi, and has carried out home delivery services in Guangdong, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Xiamen and Fuzhou.

In 1964 and 1969, Yakult entered Taiwan and Hong Kong, respectively. In order to allow consumers in Chinese mainland with a population of 1.3 billion to enjoy this healthy product, in 2002, Yakult Group began to produce and sell live lactic acid bacteria milk drinks in Chinese mainland, and the Chinese mainland market now accounts for more than 10% of Yakult's global market share, becoming the region with the most vitality and development potential. At present, Yakult is mainly sold in Guangdong and Hainan provinces, and the rest of the mainland is handled by Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd., under the brand name Yakult.
