Orrefors brand introduction

Orreforslogo

Founded in 1898, Orrefors is an ancient Swedish national treasure art crystal brand, which is world-renowned for its unique crystal items, art crystals and custom crystals

Orrefors Kosta Boda is a design firm based in Sweden. Since 1742, it has designed and manufactured high-end multifunctional glassware and glass art. The Orrefors brand represents timelessness with a crystalline Scandinavian elegance, while Kosta Boda is more experienced in its focus on shape, colour and function.

At the glassworks in Småland, the experienced Orrefors Kosta Boda glassmaker collaborates with some of Sweden's top designers to develop processes, designs and new technologies. Orrefors Kosta Boda products are characterized by innovative design and authentic craftsmanship, each product is unique thanks to hand-painting through hand-blowing and the use of the finest lead-free crystal.

As a Swedish court undertaker, Orrefors Kosta Boda provided gifts and orders to the royal family. When the future King Gustav VI Adolf married Louise Mountbatten in 1923, Simon Gate designed a collection of goblets, which later became a gift from the city of Gothenburg to the royal couple. In 2010, Erika Lagerbielke designed wedding gifts for the Parliament and the Government for Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.

We have set strict requirements in terms of quality and environment. Since 1997, we have been using the ISO quality and environmental management system throughout the entire production chain. Glass manufacturing has a multifaceted impact on the environment: heating boilers are an energy-intensive operation, and historically people have used many substances that are harmful to the environment and health, such as lead and arsenic. But now that we no longer use these substances, we require that the equipment be operated with as little energy as possible.
