JVC brand introduction

JVC logo

Founded in Japan in 1927, it is an important technology innovator in the global audio-visual industry, famous in the phonograph/camcorder/audio/television industry, and is famous for displaying Japan's first television set and inventing the VHS system

JVC was founded in 1927 in Yokohama, Japan, as a subsidiary of the American company Victor Phonograph. At first, as a company that produced phonographs, we had hardware and software production capabilities that were extremely rare at the time, such as suppressing Japan's first record. Later, with the production of the world's first VHS video recorder, JVC developed into a major technology innovator in the audiovisual industry, creating new products that were ahead of their time for a global audience.

In 1926, Kengoro Takayanagi, the "father of television", succeeded in projecting the Japanese character "ィ" onto a cathode ray tube for the first time, and after World War II, he joined JVC. He took part in the industrialization of color televisions and developed the double-ended spiral scanner system, which later became the basis for today's video recorders. To this day, his contributions and pioneering spirit remain in the DNA of our company's technological development.

Since 1930, when the first home-made phonograph "Victorola" was produced, JVC has continued to produce Japan's first EP record and the first stereo record player, pursuing both hardware and software to faithfully reproduce sound sources and sound stages. Currently, DD speakers can produce a sound that resonates with the listener's heart because they can produce a huge soundstage and can be placed flexibly in any position; and sound quality enhancement technologies, such as digital K2 technology.

In 1976, JVC developed and launched the world's first VHS video recorder, which eventually became the global standard for video tapes, and created a new cultural phenomenon through audio and video communication. We then created the D-VHS recorder, which is compatible with traditional VHS formats while storing large digital avatars at a relatively low cost. Other ideas developed by JVC for video entertainment include the 2-in-1 video recorder, which combines a hard disk recorder with an S-VHS video recorder.

Based on the scientific and technological knowledge and product development experience we have gained over 75 years of history, we have developed our global network through global production, sales and service activities, and have established the JVC brand as a synonym for quality products. With the advent of the 21st century, high-capacity and high-speed digital data exchange has become a reality, in this new era, JVC will continue to pay attention to the needs of consumers, provide them with convenient and high-quality products, and add excitement and comfort to their lives.
