NXP brand introduction

NXPlogo

NXP, originally a division of Philips, a global automotive semiconductor brand and a leading provider of semiconductor secure connectivity solutions, acquired Freescale in 2015 and officially discontinued the brand

NXP Semiconductors is one of the world's top 10 semiconductor companies, founded in 2006 by Philips more than 50 years ago.

NXP Semiconductors, formerly known as Philips, was founded half a century ago and specializes in the development of semiconductors. In the 1980s, this branch made Philips the world's largest semiconductor producer. In 2006, Philips announced the sale of its semiconductor division to a consortium of Dutch investors, and spun off from Philips.

Headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the company employs 37,000 people in more than 20 countries (37% in Europe, 37% in Asia, 21% in Greater China and 5% in the Americas) and reported sales of $6.3 billion in 2007.

NXP provides semiconductors, system solutions and software that enable better sensory experiences for mobile phones, personal media players, TVs, set-top boxes, identification applications, automobiles and a wide range of other electronic devices.

On November 16, 2006, NXP Semiconductor officially announced that it will use "NXP Semiconductor" as its Chinese brand name to carry out related marketing and operation activities in the Greater China region.

In addition to the original English brand name NXP, NXP Semiconductors hopes to further communicate its new brand with customers in the Greater China region and increase brand awareness.

Since September 1, 2006, NXP has been one of the independent leaders in the global semiconductor market. The name contains the meaning of "Next Experience", which is in line with the spirit of the English brand, and the word "Pu" in the Chinese name emphasizes NXP's 53 years of experience and resources at Philips.

With a strong foundation in consumer research, significant R&D investments, and world-class industry partners, NXP's technology enables end products to further enhance consumers' sensory experience – whether it's brightly colored images or crisp music, consumers can share messages between their homes, cars and mobile devices anytime, anywhere.

NXP's product technologies and solutions are used in five market segments: automotive, smart identification, home entertainment, mobile and personal communications, and multi-market semiconductors to establish leadership in each market.

NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) is committed to enabling smarter, more convenient lives through connectivity and infrastructure solutions. As the world's leading provider of semiconductor secure connectivity solutions, NXP is driving innovation in the high-performance mixed-signal segmentation of the connected car and IoT device end-to-end security and data protection markets.

In 2015The Freescale Semiconductor brand was officially discontinued on December 7, following the company's investment in NXP in March, when NXP announced it would acquire Freescale for approximately $11.8 billion in cash and stock.
