GE Lighting is divided into three business segments: LED, Light Source and Luminaires
The LED segment combines Nichia's expertise and deep understanding of semiconductor materials development with GE's leadership and brand strength in the lighting industry to provide a complete range of world-class and environmentally responsible LED lighting systems and solutions for a wide range of applications such as signage, architectural, traffic, display and general lighting. The Light Source segment manufactures and sells a full range of light source products, including incandescent lamps, tungsten halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, high-intensity gas discharge lamps, and automotive and specialty lighting. GE Specialty Lighting develops and sells lighting products for aircraft and other transportation systems, front and rear projection, video projection, medical, architectural, fiber optic, stage, studio and theater lighting. The lighting business segment covers industrial and commercial lighting fixtures, road lighting fixtures, flood and area lighting fixtures, as well as supporting electronic and electrical products. All these products have passed the strict 6 Sigma process quality control system to provide perfect lighting solutions for hundreds of millions of users around the world, bringing users infinite light and enjoyment.

At the end of August 2016, GE Lighting announced the termination of its business activities in Asia in response to shifting market demand. In the past decade, the market demand for traditional lighting products has continued to decline, and the development of lighting technology has increasingly shifted from traditional incandescent lamps and halogen lamps to new products such as LED lighting. In the face of changing market demands, GE Lighting will focus its resources on LED technology and business development in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
