Baoji Petroleum Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Baoji Steel Pipe or BSG), affiliated to China National Petroleum Corporation, formerly known as Baoji Petroleum Steel Pipe Factory, was founded in 1958 and is one of the 156 key construction projects during China's "First Five-Year Plan" period, and is also the first large-diameter spiral submerged arc welded pipe manufacturer in China. Over the past 50 years since its establishment, the company has developed into a national large-scale first-class enterprise integrating scientific research, pipe making, anti-corrosion, casing and auxiliary material processing, and is also a professional welded pipe enterprise with the largest scale, the most complete variety, the strongest strength, the highest market share and the most growth potential in China.
The company has six wholly-owned directly affiliated enterprises of Baoji Pipeline Company, Liaoyang Steel Pipe Factory, Ziyang Steel Pipe Factory, Karamay Co., Ltd., Baoji Special Pipe Company and Xi'an Special Pipe Company, and has three holding companies of Qinhuangdao Baoshishun Company, Baoji Zhujin Company and Shanghai Baoshiwei Company, forming "six development areas, four sea channels and nine product production bases".
The company's comprehensive production capacity of steel pipes is 1.8 million tons, with a maximum production capacity of 2.6 million tons (including 1.58 million tons of spiral seam submerged arc welded pipes, 250,000 tons of JCOE longitudinal submerged arc welded pipes, 150,000 tons of HFW longitudinal welded pipes, 20,000 tons of coiled pipes, and 600,000 tons of oil well pipes), 23.4 million square meters of steel pipe anti-corrosion (including 11.4 million square meters of internal anti-corrosion and 12 million square meters of external anti-corrosion), 3,000 pieces of elbows, 5,000 tons of welding wire, 4,000 tons of flux, 6,000 tons of coatings, and 450,000 pieces of pipe end protection rings. 1.2 million thread protectors.
Since its establishment, the company has produced a total of 14 million tons/300,000 kilometers of steel pipes and laid more than 200 pipelines. In the domestic market, the market share has always maintained the first; In the international market, the products have been exported to more than 20 countries and regions such as India, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Colombia, etc. In 2006, the company successfully won the bid for 600,000 tons of India's "east-to-west gas transmission" pipeline, creating the largest international one-time award steel pipe manufacturing contract, and also creating the highest record for China's petroleum equipment product exports.
The company has strong technical strength, founded in 1977 the former Ministry of Petroleum Welded Pipe Research Institute, in 2010 expanded into the Steel Pipe Research Institute, is China's welded steel pipe production process research, testing and scientific and technological information center, is also the drafting unit of national and industry standards, and hosts the only technical journal "Welded Pipe" magazine in the domestic welded pipe industry. In 2009, the company successfully trial-produced CT80 continuous tubes, making China the second country in the world to master the production technology of coiled tubes, and the company became the third enterprise in the world to produce coiled tubes. At present, the company is building a national oil and gas pipe engineering technology research center in an all-round way.
