Verizon was formed by the merger of two original regional Bell operating companies in the United States, Atlantic Bell and Nynex, and the merger of independent telephone company GTE. Verizon operates telecommunications and wireless businesses in 45 countries around the world, including the United States, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. On September 2, 2013, the company signed an agreement with Vodafone Group to pay $130 billion to acquire Vodafone's 45% stake in Verizon Wireless, which is more than Google's market capitalization.

Verizon Telecom provides services that are mainly divided into: telecommunications services, mobile communications, voice services, data services, and yellow pages and other services. Verizon attaches great importance to the quality of customer service, especially the resolution of user complaints, and the company has a customer service center that is responsible for effectively and quickly resolving all user complaints.

In July 2016, Verizon will acquire Yahoo's core assets for $4.83 billion, which will be integrated into Verisign's AOL. According to the report, Verisign will buy Yahoo's core Internet business and real estate assets, and the intellectual property assets will be sold separately. But Yahoo will still hold stakes in Alibaba Group and Yahoo Japan.
