Xinmin Weekly is currently the largest circulation of current affairs weekly in China's domestic newspaper retail and self-paid subscription market, and is also the first comprehensive news weekly in Shanghai. It is the first media newly created by Wen Wei Po and Xinmin Evening News after the joint establishment of the newspaper group, and it is also one of the weekly news magazines with national influence. Since its inception in January 1999, it has taken "influencing the mainstream" as its own responsibility, paying attention to "news, new knowledge, cutting-edge, people's livelihood, people's sentiments, and public opinion", and striving for a rational, calm and intelligent style of running the journal, highlighting the characteristics of "international vision, Shanghai-style temperament, original appeal, and wisdom expression".

The core competitiveness of Xinmin Weekly is mainly reflected in in-depth investigations, especially hot spot investigations, wealth surveys, and cultural surveys. In view of the effective performance of Xinmin Weekly in in-depth reporting since its inception and the high recognition of the majority of readers, including media peers, in November 2005, in the selection of "Shanghai Media Excellent Brand" in which all daily newspapers, television stations, radio stations and weekly newspapers in Shanghai participated in the competition, Xinmin Weekly's "in-depth report" won the title of the first batch of "Shanghai Media Excellent Brand".

It has newspapers and periodicals such as "Jiefang Daily", "News Morning Post", "News Evening News", "Newspaper Digest", "Shenjiang Service Herald", "Talent Market News", "Real Estate Times", "I Times", "Shanghai Student English Newspaper", "Daily Economic News", "Shanghai Legal News", "Shanghai Branch Life", "Shanghai Novel", "New Shanghai Business", "Morning Magazine", "Community Morning News"[1] and other newspapers and periodicals, as well as Jiefang.com, Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore, Shanghai Shanghai Opera House, etc. There are 11 newspapers and four periodicals, a website, a publishing house and a literary troupe.

Jiefang Daily, the main newspaper of the Jiefang Daily Newspaper Group and the organ of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, was officially launched on May 28, 1949, with the masthead inscribed by Comrade Mao Zedong himself.

The group has a total of 16 paper media, 1 publishing house and more than 10 new media products, with a total circulation of more than 2.5 million copies, forming a paper media group with reasonable structure and complete varieties such as morning newspapers, daily newspapers, evening newspapers, weekly newspapers, weekly magazines and publications. New media products realize the dissemination and interaction of newspapers, the Internet, mobile and outdoor multi-dimensional media.

Through inventory and development, the group now has a three-legged scale pattern of three printing factories in northern, eastern and southwestern Shanghai, and has built a printing base in Qingpu, Shanghai.
