PHILIPS Healthcare logo

Philips (China) Investment Co., Ltd., the core business of Philips and a global leader in the field of healthcare, acquired Volcano, an American imaging catheter company, in 2015, and is a world leader in the field of home health care/imaging systems/clinical monitoring systems

Philips Healthcare is committed to providing solutions that meet the needs of clinicians and patients. What differentiates us is that we break down the boundaries of healthcare and provide innovative and cost-effective technology solutions for the entire life cycle of care.

Streamline healthcare by focusing on patients and healthcare workers. Combining human knowledge and clinical expertise, we are committed to improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden on the healthcare system. Philips provides medical professionals with advanced solutions to meet the needs of patients; It also provides consumers with health care that they can afford in the hospital or at home. Philips Healthcare employs approximately 35,000 people worldwide.

Patients and healthcare professionals are at the heart of the Philips healthcare system, and we go beyond the boundaries of pure healthcare to provide users with an integrated, outstanding healthcare experience that can dramatically improve patient outcomes and significantly reduce overall cost of care.

As a health care expert in cardiology, oncology, critical care and women's care, Philips is committed to developing and providing comprehensive healthcare solutions to provide users with value-for-money health care services, from disease prevention, radiology diagnosis to treatment, to health management and monitoring.

Home health care services

Philips' acquisition of Respironics in the fourth quarter of 2007 represents a strengthening of Philips Healthcare's home healthcare business. Respironics, Inc. is the world's leading company for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and is extremely attractive in the home healthcare market. Although the market is not fully developed and relatively young, it has grown rapidly in the past few years. We therefore believe that now is the perfect time for a truly global player like Philips to step into the solid markets that Respironics has already established in the US, Europe and Japan.

Philips Lifeline is a leading North American supplier of medical alert system equipment that supports the independence of older adults and provides products and services that provide comfort and peace of mind to patients and their caregivers, as well as a sense of security.

Philips PTS service offerings and Motiva enable caregivers to monitor patients from home, allowing independent patients to feel connected to their caregivers in real time and to be called whenever they need them. PTS allows patients to stay in touch with their healthcare provider after discharge (short-term care vs. follow-up), while Motiva serves as a "care" bridge between healthcare providers (e.g. hospitals, doctors, etc.) and chronic patients recuperating at home (longer-term care and follow-up).

Professional healthcare equipment and services

X-Ray Systems – Philips is the number one supplier of cardiovascular X-ray systems and the second largest supplier in the general X-ray systems market. A diagnostic X-ray system is able to pass a beam of radiation through the body to form a picture image on the other side. Philips also provides software support for enhanced image processing and systems with digital archiving and remote network work.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) is a technology that uses magnetic fields, radio waves, and computers to generate two- and three-dimensional images of body structures for radiology, cardiology, and interventional procedures. It is a complement to CT because it is particularly sensitive to soft tissues such as the brain and nerves.

Nuclear Medicine & PET Systems – Nuclear medicine uses agents that are located in specific organs or tissues based on their biochemical or physiological properties. These agents can be visualized with a gamma camera. Doctors can use positron emission tomography (PET) in conjunction with other diagnostic tests to evaluate certain cancers, heart diseases and brain disorders. Philips offers dedicated PET systems for nuclear cardiology as well as exclusive open CT-PET combinations and dedicated HMMA.
