Founded in Japan in 1927, Kawai Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a world-renowned piano brand that is famous for its high-quality piano manufacturing
Kawaii is KAWAI, commonly translated as: kawaii, which means "cute" in Japanese, and here it represents the world's top piano produced by Kawai Musical Instrument Productions in Japan. Kawai is currently the only piano factory that uses its own surname as a piano trademark. No matter how bumpy it was to grow up. Kawai's entrepreneurs and employees have a constant love for the piano.
Founded in 1927 by Kawai Koichi, the founder of Kawai Koji, the first piano designer in Japan, and the first person in the musical instrument industry to be awarded the Blue Ribbon Medal, Japan's highest medal. Since then, Kawai Gakki has grown to become the world's third-largest instrument manufacturer after Mitsuki Instruments and Yamaha Instruments, and has become known as a high-quality piano manufacturer. The current president of Hirotaka Kawai is the grandson of Kawai Koichi. In 1999, Kawai Musical Instruments launched the highest-end brand of the world, Segalkawai, which is one of the highest quality pianos in the world due to the selection of carefully selected materials and the handmade pianos managed by a concert-level tuner. Historically, the field of ultra-fine piano has been monopolized by traditional European brands, and Segalkawai challenged this field for the first time as an Asian piano, and has since attracted attention from all over the world. When it was first published in the United States in 2000, it was called "the Lexus of the piano world (Toyota's most exclusive car brand)" by the Los Angeles Times.
In 1995, Kawai Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Beijing Piano Factory held a signing ceremony in Beijing, and the two sides began to cooperate in the production of KAWAI pianos. In 2002, Kawai established Hehe Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China, and Yichang Jinbao Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which was acquired by Parsons in 2003, began producing upright pianos in Yichang, Hubei Province.
In 2004, Hehe Musical Instrument (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., a piano parts manufacturing company, was established in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China.
On January 30, 2008, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Japan's Kawai Musical Instrument Production, and Kawai Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. held a handover ceremony for the Kawaii piano. Liu Shikun, Li Shuangjiang, Wang Liping, Cai Guoqing, Wang Yanyan, Zhang Zheng, Sun Ying and other well-known figures in the art world attended the handover ceremony and made impromptu performances.
At the handover ceremony, President of the National Centre for the Performing Arts and President Kawai of Kawai Musical Instruments Japan delivered a speech as a representative of the organizers. Minister Naosaki Michigami of the Japanese Embassy in China attended the meeting and delivered a congratulatory speech.
The National Centre for the Performing Arts of China (NCPA) is the temple of Chinese music, and when it was completed, 22 pianos were introduced, of which 17 were made in Japan by Kawai Musical Instruments. Kawaii is also the only Asian piano brand introduced to the theater.
In China, the average family market for high-end pianos is not fully recognized because of their high prices. In the market of professional colleges such as conservatories, the Kawai brand has been highly evaluated, and in the past two years, Kawaii's market share has developed rapidly.
The introduction of Kawai pianos by the National Centre for the Performing Arts is also due to the fact that Kawai pianos are highly praised in the majority of music academies.
