Glencore Strata S.A. is a global commodities trading giant. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Baar, Switzerland, it is one of the world's leading producers and operators of commodities.

Glencore was initially engaged in the physical marketing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and soon expanded into minerals, crude oil and petroleum products. In the early 80s of the 20th century, Glencore established the Dutch Trading Company for the Purchase of Grain and formed the Basic Agricultural Products Enterprise Group. Later, he got involved in energy products such as coal.
