Eni Petroleum Company, one of the world's top 500 companies, is a national holding company established in Italy in 1953, a large multinational oil company with integrated upstream and downstream operations, and the seventh largest oil group company in the world

Eni Group, the full name of Ente Nazionale ldrocarburi (ENI), is a national holding company established by the Italian government on February 10, 1953 to ensure domestic oil and gas supply, and its predecessor was Ajip established in 1926, that is, Petroitalia. It is one of the world's seventh-largest oil companies and one of the world's largest multinational oil companies with integrated upstream and downstream operations. Today, it has branches in more than 70 countries around the world and employs more than 70,000 people. Eni Group is the world's leading multinational oil company with integrated upstream and downstream operations. In 1992, Eni was restructured from a state-owned enterprise to a joint-stock company and went public. The company's business scope includes oil and gas exploration and exploitation, petroleum refining and oil product marketing, as well as the production and sales of petrochemical products and oilfield engineering contracting and services.

The address of the headquarters of the Eni Group is 1 Place Enrico Madey in Rome. The name of the place is a reminder of the great contribution of Enrico Madai, the first president of the Eni Group, as the founder of the Italian oil and gas industry. This is the greatest recognition of an entrepreneur's contribution by a country. Prior to his appointment as President of Eni, he had already served as Acting President of AGIP AG and had a comprehensive knowledge of energy policy and energy development and production throughout Italy. Later, under his leadership, Eni Group also incorporated the Italian AGIP (Italian Petroleum Corporation) under its umbrella. From the outset, Eni faced two major challenges: the post-war economic recovery generated greater demand for energy, but Italy's hydropower and coal resources were not enough to support this growth, so it needed to continue to import large quantities of oil from the oil countries. However, the post-war international situation has changed, and the great powers are no longer able to obtain oil and gas resources by the original means. In order to reduce its dependence on external oil resources, Italy needs to develop its strengths and avoid its weaknesses and strengthen the development and utilization of natural gas resources.

In 1958, Eni began to do business with China, supplying fertilizers and synthetic rubber to China under an agreement. In the 80s, Eni became increasingly close to China. In 1980, he participated in China's oil exploration and development. In the following years, Eni worked with Beijing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, China Petrochemical Corporation, Yanshan Petrochemical Company, and the Ministry of Chemical Industry of China on the development of synthetic rubber technology. Petrochemical industry has carried out extensive cooperation and exchanges with synthetic materials. In 1983, Eni cooperated with China National Offshore Oil Corporation and others to jointly carry out oil exploration and production in the South China Sea. Eni has a 163% stake in the joint venture group.
