Engineers George Wall, John Kathe and George Gillle, along with entrepreneur and investor Leaton Lrwin and his son Mac, founded the Wall Pump & Compressor Company on July 20, 1920. On December 24, 1924, it was renamed Quincy Compressor Company.
In 1937, Quincy Compressors introduced the QR-25 series, which was efficient, durable, and reliable. Quincy became synonymous with "high quality".
In 1966, Quincy merged into the Kurt Industrial Group. Kurt is a Fortune 500 company in the United States, ranking 127th. Its main businesses include aerospace technology, military industry and traditional industry. However, due to its military background, overseas investment is restricted. In 1967, Quincy moved to a new facility on Wismann Road. The plant was expanded three times in 1973, 1979 and 1982 with an annual capacity of 2,000 compressors.
In 1980, Quincy Compressor opened a new facility in Bay Minette, Alabama dedicated to the production of screw products. After three expansions in 88, 96 and 98 years, the annual production capacity now reaches 15,000 units.
At NASA, quality comes first. NASA began working with Quincy when NASA engineers selected four Quincy QSI compressors to pneumoically power the two launch towers at the Kennedy Space Center. Take a look around the NASA base and you'll find nearly 100 Quincy compressors providing reliable air power for all the work on the base.

In 1998, BF Goodrich merged with Kurt Industries and changed its name to Goodrich. Quincy also became a member of Goodrich. In 2002, Quincy was a member of Goodrich's Engineered Products division, which spun off to form the $1 billion Inpro Industrial Group.
In 2003, without a military background, Quincy China invested and prepared to build a Chinese factory.
In September 2004, the first factory of Quincy Compressor Company in China was established in Kunshan Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Province.
December 18, 2009 was a significant day in the history of Quincy Compressors, when Impro Industries and Atlas Copco entered into an agreement for Atlas Copco to acquire Quincy Compressors.
