Xuancheng, referred to as Xuancheng, formerly known as Wanling and Xuanzhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta, the central city of the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor, the city of Nanjing metropolitan area, a wing of the industrial transfer demonstration zone of the Wanjiang City Belt, the core city of the International Tourism and Culture Demonstration Zone in southern Anhui, an important transportation hub in the southeast of Anhui, and the hometown of the four treasures of Chinese literature. The total area of the city is 12,340 square kilometers. As of November 2020, the city has 1 district, 4 counties, and 2 county-level cities, with a permanent population of 2,500,100.  In 2021, Xuancheng City achieved a GDP of 183.39 billion yuan, an increase of 10.1% over the previous year and an average growth of 6.9% over the past two years.

 

Xuancheng is located in the southeast of Anhui in East China, adjacent to Jiangsu and Zhejiang, close to Shanghai and Hangzhou, and belonged to Wuyue in ancient times. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xuancheng Prefecture was established, and then Wuhu Prefecture and Wuhu District, and in 1980, Wuhu District was renamed Xuancheng District. In April 1982, the Xuancheng Prefectural Committee and Administration Office were relocated from Wuhu to Xuancheng. In 2000, the land was withdrawn and the city was established.
