Stone stele rubbing
Rubbing refers to the shape of inscriptions, stone carvings, utensils and other cultural relics, as well as the words and patterns on the surface of the paper pieces of paper.
Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum is the largest collection of steles in China's art museum, a total of 1087 pieces from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty steles, epitaphs, Yan Zhenqing's "Duobao Pagoda Induction Tablet", Wang Xizhi's "Orchid Pavilion Preface", Mi Fu's "Four Screens", Emperor Kangxi's "Tranquility Zhiyuan", Ma Dezhao's "Kui Xing Dotting Carved Stone" and so on are all classics. These original patterns are rubbed into rubbing, and the size of the rubbing, the details of the features, and the concave and convex texture of the strokes are extremely restored, and they have a very high collection value.
The investment value of the rubbings should not be underestimated. "Zhou Mao Gongding's Six Famous Inscriptions" was auctioned for 11.385 million yuan, and "Han Laizi Hou Carved Stone Initial Rubbing" was sold for 20.7 million yuan.
At present, in the service department of the Forest of Steles Museum can buy the original rubbings of the stele, due to the different maintenance costs of different steles, the price of rubbings varies greatly, the price ranges from hundreds to tens of thousands of yuan, and some extremely precious stele rubbings are hard to find. The rubbings sold by the marketing department at the entrance of the Shuyuanmen Cultural Street and the Beilin Museum are only one-tenth of the sales department, or even lower. This is because the original model of the Forest of Steles Museum was once open to the public, and some of the steles were reproduced and entered the market in the form of replicas, so the price was low. Among these reproduction rubbings, there are some finely made works, which have a high degree of similarity with the original rubbings, and have certain appreciation and research value, so amateurs can consider starting them.
