Beam flat bamboo curtain
Liangping has abundant rainfall, abundant bamboo, and has a long history of hand curtain weaving. In other areas, bamboo weaving mostly uses bamboo slices as raw materials, and the practice in Liangping County is different, which is to cut bamboo slices into filaments with a diameter of only 0.3 to 1 mm, and then weave them with a loom, using silk as warp and bamboo silk as weft, and weaving long bamboo curtains (the width depends on the length of the bamboo joints, ranging from 20 to 60 cm).
Bamboo curtains are not only delicately woven, but also quite beautiful in appearance. Since the Qing Dynasty, artists have applied Chinese painting techniques to filament bamboo curtains, painting landscapes, flowers and birds, and human figures, with bright and dazzling colors, or painting freehand ink paintings, which are rich in artistic conception and beauty. As a result, the beam flat bead curtain gradually became a handicraft.
Due to the low demand and high costs, there are not many manufacturers of Liangping bamboo curtains. As of the beginning of 2018, there are only 4 workshops left in Liangping County that make bamboo curtains, all of which mainly sell bamboo curtain paintings, mainly for ornamentation, and have low practicability. If you are interested in collecting, you can go to Liangping County for inspection.
