Originated in 1992, Hongdao Bookstore is the earliest chain bookstore in Changsha, it has created a business model of opening bookstores in shopping malls in 1998, and Hongdao has hundreds of stores in the market at its peak. Today, after experiencing the reshuffle of the bookstore industry, Hongdao regained its strength in 2015, closed and reinstalled its stores, and reopened six stores in Changsha.
"Chain without copying" is the standard of opening a store that Hongdao has always adhered to, and each of its stores has a different design style and book combination according to different customer groups, for example, its Huachuang store focuses on humanities, this store is divided into sections in a circular area, and the original wood-colored bookshelves are decorated with a large number of yellow and green, making the store very bright. Six sections, including reading, cultural and creative, coffee, children's, art and culture, and handicrafts, are divided into six sections, and the arc-shaped dividing line makes the connection between different areas very smooth. The Humanities Museum in the store not only covers exquisite cultural and creative works, but also includes the scent museum imported from France, with a variety of perfumes and books, with more than 400 scents. Vanke Store, on the other hand, focuses on parent-child children, providing more children's books and parent-child activity areas, creating a comfortable parent-child reading atmosphere. The Yunda Plaza store has opened the Huxiang Original Design Museum, which integrates the cultural and creative works of local designers into the bookstore.
Hongdao Bookstore is very strict in the selection of books in the store, and it has set up a special book selection team, which is composed of senior publishers, veteran employees and readers. The store will regularly update columns such as "Good Book Recommendation" and "New Book Express" to help readers choose books. In terms of book scale, Hongdao is not lagging behind compared to the top stores on the list, with 4 to 50,000 books in each bookstore, and almost every book can be found in unsealed editions, which is very friendly to readers who like to "rub books".
As a non-traditional bookstore, Hongdao has dabbled in coffee, events, etc. Like Sisyphus, Hongdao has also established its own coffee brand, which produces high-quality products. The store has a variety of in-store events, such as book signings, sharing sessions, and story festivals.
