The ancient Shu Kingdom was founded as far back as the Neolithic period, and was once the center of ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, leaving behind rare and precious historical relics. The Jinsha site is the capital of the ancient Shu Kingdom in the Shang, Zhou, Spring and Autumn and Western Zhou dynasties, and is one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the ancient Shu civilization. In the Jinsha ruins, large building foundations, sacrificial areas, residential sites, large cemeteries, etc., have been discovered, and a large number of cultural relics and fossils such as gold, jade and ivory have been unearthed. The excavation of Jinsha site is of great significance to the study of the ancient history of Chengdu, the mystery of the disappearance of Sanxingdui civilization, the ancient Shu kingdom and even the origin of ancient Chinese civilization.
In 2001, the Jinsha site was discovered in Chengdu City, and then the Jinsha Site Museum was established on the original site of the site, showing the Jinsha archaeological relics, unearthed cultural relics and the evolution of ancient Shu culture. Jinsha Site Museum is now a national first-class museum, a national AAAA scenic spot and a national key cultural relics protection unit.
Jinsha Site Museum, also known as Jinsha National Archaeological Site Park, has a total area of 380,000 square meters and a green area of 80%, which is composed of relics museum, exhibition hall, ebony forest, jade road, garden area and Xishan Waterscape Square. The Jinsha Museum has a reasonable layout, with the river flowing horizontally, and the two main building relics and exhibition halls are distributed on both sides of the river, and lush flowers and trees are wrapped around the building. In addition to visiting antiquities, tourists can stroll in the grasslands, admire precious tree species such as ginkgo biloba and metasequoia, and watch plants such as hibiscus forest and plum forest, and enjoy the fun of nature.
The relics museum is a semi-circular long-span steel structure building, in the shape of a slope, with a construction area of 7,600 square meters. In this huge space supported by 15 steel columns, the excavation site of the riverside sacrificial site of the Jinsha site is located. This is the most complete, longest-lasting, and most abundant sacrificial relics in China. A number of wooden roads are laid in the museum to pass through the sky above the ruins, and are accompanied by text, pictures and video descriptions of archaeological methods and site information. The soil layer spanning many periods, the ancient river channel that has long since dried up, the hole of the altar and the remnants of large tree roots always bring a deep shock to the audience. The audience can not only feel the grand scene of the sacrifice of the ancient Shu Kingdom 3,000 years ago, but also get close to the archaeological site and understand the excavation and restoration process.
It is worth mentioning that the Jinsha Museum launched the "Augmented Reality of the Jinsha Site Altar" application. Visitors open the program, point the camera at the site of the ruins, you can watch the restored images of the ancient Shu sacrifice ceremony, the monotonous site scene is immediately vivid, full of fun, quite popular with children. At the exit of the relics museum, there is a national first-class protected plant alder, which is a "living fossil" for studying paleogeography and paleoclimate. The alder and the ruins in the museum are both important things for the study of the ancient world, one nature and one humanities, and they complement each other.
The exhibition hall is a square building in the shape of a slope, with a total of three floors, which is divided into five exhibition halls: "Ancient Home", "Silhouette of the Royal Capital", "Heaven and Earth", "Treasures of a Thousand Years" and "Interpretation of Jinsha". The first exhibition hall "Ancient Home" displays the animal fossils and plant remains of the site, and uses large-scale half-scene paintings and real scenes to reproduce the life and natural environment of the ancestors of Jinsha 3,000 years ago. The second exhibition hall "Silhouette of the Royal Capital" combines unearthed cultural relics, scene models and video animations to present in detail the production and life of the ancestors of Jinsha, including residences, production tools, pottery, smelting and casting, jade making, tombs and a series of sections.
The exhibition hall of "Heaven and Earth is endless" mainly shows the religious sacrificial activities of Jinsha society, displaying gold, bronze, jade, stone, ivory, divination and other sacrificial items. As soon as you enter the museum, in the dim light, the first thing that catches your eye is the projection of a huge bronze standing person, and you suddenly feel solemn. The audience then looks at the sacrificial offerings in the matrix display case in the space divided by the rappelling gauze, and sighs at the magic of the ancient kingdom 3,000 years ago.
The "Treasures of a Thousand Years" is arranged in a ring, with the gold ornament of the "Sun God Bird", the treasure of the Jinsha Museum, placed in the center of the circular booth, and more than 30 other precious cultural relics displayed in four groups of fan-shaped display cabinets around it. The "Interpretation of Jinsha" museum introduces other ancient Shu relics in Sichuan and the connection with Jinsha civilization, showing the four stages of the development and evolution of ancient Shu civilization. In the shuttle of the exhibition hall, the audience can see that there is a huge golden sun god bird logo at the top and bottom of the middle of the exhibition hall, which is dazzling in the sunlight.
At the same time, the Sands Museum has organized and undertaken a number of related cultural and artistic activities. The 4D theater in the exhibition hall regularly plays the movie "Dream Back to Jinsha", which more intuitively shows the scene from the Du Yu Dynasty of the ancient Shu Kingdom to the Ming Dynasty. The Jinsha Theater regularly stages the musical "Jinsha", holds Jinsha Lecture Hall and academic exchange activities related to the ancient Shu civilization. In addition, during the Spring Festival every year, the Jinsha Museum will hold the Jinsha Sun Festival, which introduces the cultural history and ancient Shu civilization around the world through parades, interactive games and art performances.
The first Tuesday of every month is the interpretation day of the Jinsha Site Museum, when there will be experts to explain to the audience, and visitors can register on the museum's official account. Visitors can also use applications such as "Recreate Jinsha AR" and "Jinsha Smart Navigation" to have a deeper view and understanding of Jinsha ruins.
