Opened in 2018, Amos is tucked away in a side street of an old neighborhood at New South Gate. The shopkeeper believed in Christ, so the name Amos comes from the biblical character Amos, a prophet to the Hebrews, which means "one who has a long way to go" in Hebrew. Amos is a typical mom-and-pop shop, where the owner and the hostess are both in charge and there are no additional employees. Both husband and wife are coffee lovers, and most of their coffee knowledge is self-taught, and during the self-study period, they visited famous baristas and training institutions across the country. Currently, we are actively engaged in coffee-related competitions.
Amos does not roast its own coffee beans, but buys coffee beans from well-known roasters online. The choice of coffee beans is decided by the couple in a deliberate manner, and in the event of a disagreement, they buy their favorite beans at the same time and cup. Only the beans that satisfy both parties will be put into the store for sale, and the eliminated beans will be digested by themselves. The store supplies three to four single beans every day, mostly common varieties of specialty coffee. In the brewing process, the barista is rigorous and conscientious, and the details such as weighing, measuring the water temperature, and cleaning the utensils will not be left behind. The brewed coffee has a good flavor display and conforms to the description of the flavor of single beans. Amos' pour-over coffee is housed in a hammered glass flask, with a wide lower and narrower shape to preserve the aroma of the coffee and last for a long time. Unfortunately, Amos does not currently sell iced drip coffee, and given the limited experience, it will not consider making iced drip coffee for sale in the short term. The average price of Amos is slightly lower than the average level of boutique cafes in Chengdu, and the value for money is relatively high. In addition, Amos currently only serves coffee and other beverages, and does not sell desserts.
The Amos store is a small but well-equipped store with a complete water purification system, which measures the water quality every morning and evening, and adjusts the water method of brewing coffee according to the water quality. If the water quality does not reach the standard value of coffee brewing on the day, it will choose to brew with pure water.
The space of the store is small, the coffee making area basically occupies about half of the space of the store, and the dining area is L-shaped, with tables and chairs set against the wall. Because of the back street, the environment is relatively quiet and comfortable. There are also tables and chairs outside, and there are more mosquitoes in summer, so the store will help light mosquito coils, and the service is more intimate. Amos is closed on Tuesdays, so diners should be careful not to run out.
