Migas Mercado - Merchant Reviews

Migas is also a Spanish restaurant from the garden. Since 2010, Migas Restaurant and Lounge has been rooted on the top floor of the garden there, and is known for its playful restaurant style and lively rooftop bar. Migas is arguably one of the liveliest and most fun-loving Spanish restaurants in Beijing, with parties and performances happening almost every weekend, and it's no exaggeration to say that Migas' terrace is probably one of the most glamorous in Beijing. Media outlets such as Timeout, That's Beijing, Cityweeekend, thebeijinger and others have praised Migas, and the restaurant's bar has won several awards. In the summer of 2017, Migas brought its first branch, Migas Mercado, to the CBD of Guomao, which has become a new culinary landmark in Beijing with its excellent location and excellent views. However, the two Migas stores didn't exist for long, and on the last day of 2017, Migas in the garden closed after a final party, and Migas shifted its focus to its new store, Migas Mercado.

Migas' current Executive Chef is Spaniard Miguel Casal Zapata, who has trained at Michelin-starred El Lago in Marbella, Spain, as a private chef for the Qatari royal family in Doha, and has a wealth of pastry experience at Arola, another Michelin-starred restaurant in Barcelona. In addition, the restaurant's sous chef, Zhou Mengxin, who won the Tapas International Culinary Competition in Valladolid, has been working at Migas for several years and is now a capable chef in the back of the kitchen.

Migas Mercado is very different from the old Migas Restaurant and Lounge in the garden, and the only thing that remains the same is the new and interesting character of the restaurant. Inspired by Barcelona's Boqueria market, Migas Mercado's décor blends old Barcelona style with modern industrial style, dividing the restaurant into three sections: a gourmet market, a formal dining restaurant and a cocktail bar, all of which are seamlessly connected to each other. This division of dining areas makes for an interesting dining experience, especially at the food market on the left-hand side of the entrance, where paella, seafood and meat are served at the Arroces, Lonja and Brasa stalls, where customers can sit close together and enjoy the charm of the Spanish market. The dining area focuses on fine dining, and the window is the CBD city view, facing the CCTV building, with a first-class view. The bar is a vintage U-shaped bar with an extensive wine and cocktail list. Migas Mercado also has a circular outdoor terrace, which is smaller than the old shop, but has a better view and view, and it is also very atmospheric to drink and enjoy tapas on the terrace when the weather is nice.

Migas offers two menus, Tapas and Dinner, where customers can choose from more casual and simple tapas to more formal and sophisticated meals. Migas' menu is one of the richest in the number of Spanish restaurants in Beijing, with as many as 40 or 50 kinds of tapas alone, and even imported canned tapas and dessert tapas from Spain. The small burger is an interesting choice among the tapas, among which the soft shell crab mayonnaise burger is worth recommending, the bread is golden brown, crispy and fluffy, the soft shell crab crab body is tender, the crab roe is full and rich, and the appearance is fried until crispy, with fresh and slightly sour mayonnaise, lettuce and pickled cucumber, the flavor is three-dimensional. In addition to the soft-shell crab mayonnaise burger, the oyster foie gras burger and the eel burger also have their own characteristics. In the traditional Spanish diet, sausages are also very important, and in Migas's Tapas you can taste a variety of traditional sausages such as red, white, bloody and spicy sausages. Among them, the Spanish red sausage "Chorizo" is the most representative one, salty and fragrant, oily but not greasy, slightly spicy in taste, and smoky in flavor, which is similar to the Chinese sausage. Blood sausage and white intestine are also worth trying, the blood sausage is soft and glutinous, and the white sausage is more meaty; If you're travelling with a large group, you can opt for Migas' homemade sausage platter, but Spanish sausages are generally heavier and can be a bit salty for Chinese diners.

For the main meal, several main dishes such as grilled octopus, grilled Iberian pork, wagyu beef tartar, and tuna tartar stand out. Grilled octopus is quite distinctive, and it is a huge whole octopus that is served on the table, although it has a strange appearance, but the meat is fresh and firm, and the moderate charcoal grilling does not make the octopus lose too much water, bringing a charred aroma while still having a sweet and soft taste. Grilled Iberian pork is a simple dish, the pork itself is of perfect quality, the ingredients are fresh, the pork juice is full of water, the taste is refreshing, and the texture is as smooth and delicate as a fine steak, which is quite amazing. Classics such as paella and Iberian ham are not missing, with Migas' top-quality hams from 5J and grilled meat stalls at the gourmet market offering more affordable options such as Castro Iberian ham, Iberian pork shoulder ham and Bologna ham. In addition, Migas's Australian Angus Tomahawk Steak is also worth mentioning, Migas has its own dry-aged cultivation house in the 798 Park, and their Tomahawk steak is dry-aged, which is rare in Western restaurants in Beijing. Migas's aged beef is generally made from Australian Black Angus beef, which is aged for 21 or 28 days and has a more intense flavor than regular beef.

The restaurant's service is the highlight, the waiter will take the initiative to guide diners, recommend menus, and according to the different dining scenarios of different customers, the restaurant will also give corresponding care and provide different rhythms of service. Meals are subject to a 10% service charge, and it is best to book in advance for a view. Migas' dining area is designed to cater to the needs of different customers, whether it's a simple lunch, a cocktail, a business dinner, or an intimate date, you can always find the right place at Migas.
