Guangzhou Huamei English Experimental School integrates kindergarten, primary school, junior high school, general high school, international high school and international student department, and is one of the first four schools officially authorized by Cambridge in China, and is also one of the only two private schools in Guangzhou that independently enroll students in the high school entrance examination as of 2017. In 2012, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper visited Huamei, the only university he visited during his visit to China.

Since participating in the domestic college entrance examination in 2001, Huamei's college entrance examination online rate has exceeded the supervision and evaluation standards of Guangzhou, and has cultivated the top students in the total score and single subject of the college entrance examination in Tianhe District in 2004, the fourth place in the total score of the college entrance examination in Tianhe District in 2005, and the second place in the total score of the college entrance examination in Tianhe District in 2006, and there is no shortage of students who have been admitted to Peking University, Tsinghua University and other universities. Guangzhou Huamei English Experimental School, located on Huamei Road in Tianhe District, is one of the two schools in Guangzhou that name the street after the school (the other is the provincial school). The campus covers an area of more than 160,000 square meters, with a construction area of 100,000 square meters. The school has first-class hardware facilities, including multimedia classrooms, laboratories, piano rooms, dance studios, swimming pools, ecological parks, indoor gymnasiums, golf training grounds, and a municipal first-class library with a collection of 100,000 books and English reading software. In terms of teaching, Huamei mainly focuses on small classes and hierarchical teaching, and implements a tutor system. As a school with a special focus on English, Huamei has hired Professor Qiu Yaode, Chief Training Officer of Cambridge English in China and Professor Qiu Yaode of Capital Normal University, to be responsible for English teaching and guidance. In addition, Huamei also actively promotes projects such as the Wing Class Network, the STREAM Course, the Yitu Experimental Course, and the Talent Training Base of Jinan University.

The four major courses are divided into more than 60 different types of interest activity groups, and the middle school stage has set up a success lecture hall, a cultural lecture hall, a "second foreign language", mental health education, a maker space, etc., so that students can improve their practical ability in the activities. The school also actively organizes overseas study tours during the holidays, also as part of improving students' foreign language skills.

Huamei is mainly boarding, the girls' dormitories are larger and newer than the men's dormitories, all of them are 4 rooms, with bathrooms and toilets, equipped with wardrobes, desks, shoe cabinets, fans, air conditioners and other facilities, and there are life teachers 24 hours a day management, according to its students, Huamei's dormitory conditions can be called "crushing" compared to other schools. The school's kindergarten and primary and secondary school students' canteens are separated, equipped with central air conditioning, fans and other facilities, and has been rated as a food hygiene grade A unit by the Guangzhou Municipal Health Bureau, and employs nutrition experts from Sun Yat-sen Medical University to prepare meals. Huamei also has a first-class school hospital, which is approved by the health administrative department and has practice qualifications, integrating prevention, medical treatment and health care, and providing 24-hour service. More than 80% of the medical technicians in the university hospital have obtained intermediate or above professional titles, and most of them have bachelor's degrees and more than 10 years of clinical work experience. In addition, students can be picked up and dropped off by school buses during the weekend holidays, and the network of more than 100 school buses covers the Pearl River Delta and can reach as far as the Chaoshan area.

In terms of management, Huamei is relatively relaxed, and there are no strict requirements for students' dress, but there will be different treatment in some aspects. Compared with the international high school and the international student department, the school has strict requirements for students in the ordinary high school, such as not being able to order takeout, not bringing electronic products, etc., and was found to be suspended for 7 days at a time, placed on probation twice, and expelled three times. Previously, on the day of the opening of the school, the school used a metal detector to check whether students had brought electronic products, and only ordinary high school students "enjoyed" this treatment.
