Guangzhou Yuexiu District Yucai Experimental School (hereinafter referred to as Yushi) is recognized as the first among private junior high schools in Guangzhou, and is known as the "Four Major Private Schools" along with Yingyuan No. 2 Middle School, Liwan Guangya and CUHK High School. Founded in 2000, it is a state-owned private junior high school, which is undertaken by Guangzhou Yucai Middle School.
From 2014 to 2016, Yushi's overall average scores in the high school entrance examination were 729.62, 727.5 and 732.37 respectively, ranking among the best in Guangzhou junior high schools. From the perspective of the number of high scores, the number of people with a score of 730 or more is about 155, and the number of people with a score of 700 or more is between 235 and 257, accounting for more than 90%. In 2017, 275 students took the high school entrance examination, with an average score of 724.37 points, which was higher than the admission score of Huafu University (724 points), ranking first among all private junior high schools in Guangzhou. Specifically, there are 26 candidates with a score of 750 or more, with the highest score of 772, 114 with a score of 730 or more, and 249 with a score of 700 or more, accounting for more than 9 percent of the candidates in the school.
The school is located on Ersha Island, where every inch of land is valuable, with a beautiful campus environment, green trees, and you can see the Canton Tower when you look up. Yushi campus is surrounded by villas, adjacent to Guangzhou American School, and there is no noise of snack street and pedestrian street. However, it is precisely because it is located in the prime area of Guangzhou, the school area is not large, only 13,600 square meters, and there is a gap with many private schools. Although the school is small, it is "well-equipped", with a standard plastic sports field, an 800-square-meter gymnasium, and a standard function room, which can meet the needs of students' extracurricular activities to a certain extent. However, the facilities in the school are generally old, and the library is only converted from two classrooms.
Whether overtly or secretly, the division of "key classes" and "ordinary classes" is a phenomenon that exists in many schools, but according to parents and students, there is no such situation in Yushi. Yushi adopts a serpentine class, and the boys and girls are arranged separately according to the test results, and the classes are divided by a serpentine line. This class assignment is effective in ensuring that the students in each class have a balanced performance and a reasonable ratio of men and women. At the same time, because many Yushi students are actually admitted to the school, and very few go through the back door, Yushi's school spirit has always been highly affirmed, and there are few bullying and fights in the school.
Yushi adopts the method of small class teaching, with no more than 50 students in each class, and emphasizes the cooperative learning of 4 students. The content of the class and the homework are mainly close to the high school entrance examination, and with the deepening of learning, the content will gradually be higher than the level of the high school entrance examination. Although the school is not large, Yushi is still mainly boarding. Yushi's management has always been strict. Every summer, Yushi will also organize a military training, the first and third years of junior high school in the school, and the second junior high school to the military training base.
