Huizhou Nankunshan Cross Water Ecological Resort - Institutional Review

Nankunshan Cross Water Ecological Resort is one of the "Top 50 Global Eco-Resorts" recommended by National Geographic magazine in the United States, and it is also the only resort in China to receive this honor. Cross Water Ecological Resort is located in the center of Nankunshan National Forest Park, Longmen County, Guangdong Province, adjacent to Shihe Wonders, Guanyin Pond, Chuanlong Waterfall, First Line Sky, Jiuzhong Overlook, Nankunshan Specialty Street and other scenic spots. Nankunshan National Forest Park, as a national AAAA-level scenic spot, has the reputation of "Nanyue Great Oxygen Bar" and "Pearl River Delta Back Garden", the vegetation in the territory is primitive and luxuriant, the forest coverage rate is as high as 96.6%, the ecological environment is excellent, only 2 hours drive from Guangzhou and Dongguan, so the hotel has been operating for nearly ten years, and its holiday occupancy rate has been as high as 95%. Most of the original residents of Nankunshan were Hakka, and the hotel project was built in imitation of the natural form of Hakka small villages, with bamboo as an important building element, and local building materials were also used as much as possible. Because the use of large machinery was avoided as much as possible during construction, the resort basically retained its original ecological style. Designed by Colombian bamboo designer Simon Velez, the hotel has won the 2010 American Society of Landscape Architects Award ASLA Universal Design Honor Award, the 2014 Best Of The Year Awards in the United States and other domestic and foreign industry awards. The resort's signature bamboo bridge, designed by Simon himself, is made of bamboo, copper castings and tiles, and is one of only two in the world, one in Colombia and the other iconic at Crosswater Resort. Cross Water Eco Resort has a unique planning method for high-end resorts, and all buildings are low-density independent construction, with a high degree of privacy. The guest rooms in the resort are also relatively rich, and the regular rooms include garden view twin rooms, treetop spring sprout double bed rooms, and Panshan spring sprout large bed rooms, in addition, there are several villa room types such as bamboo villa rooms and Panxi villa rooms. The interior decoration of the guest rooms is basically resort-style, with white mosquito nets hanging on the beds and small electric fans hanging on the beds, which is quite Southeast Asian style. The smallest rooms are 53 square meters, with large activity space and spacious bathrooms. Each room has an independent soaking pool, equipped with bath salts, essential oils, ginger slices and other materials, the project includes a fee, the specific situation needs to consult the hotel. The various supporting items in the room are relatively complete, but they are not as high-end and luxurious as the top hotels. Some rooms also have shortcomings such as slightly outdated facilities, poor shading effect, dampness and musty smell. Some residents have complained that the design of the room is not very user-friendly, such as the mirror in the bathroom shining directly at the head of the bed, and there is no place to dry towels around the sink. The various public facilities supporting the Cross Water Eco Resort are decent, the view of the infinity pool is not bad, and the pool water is clean and clear without peculiar smell, but the spa, hot spring pool and bar are not too highlighted, and there are few entertainment facilities around the resort. In addition, the hotel is still being expanded and renovated, which may have an impact on the stay experience. The resort also provides private butler service and battery car pick-up and drop-off for villa residents, but the professional quality and service attitude of the service staff are still different from those of hotels such as Imperial Springs International Manor. The resort contains a Chinese restaurant and a Western restaurant, and the reputation of the products is polarized, or due to the unstable production standards. Due to the lack of restaurants around the hotel, it is inconvenient to travel around, and it is most convenient to eat in the hotel, but there is a 15% service charge, which also makes many guests unhappy. Compared with high-end hotels in the same price range, the ecological environment of Nankunshan Cross Water Ecological Resort is very good, but the hotel itself lacks bright spots, and there are many places that need to be improved.
