Located next to the Imperial Garden Community, Imperial Garden School was originally a complete secondary school supported by Shenzhen Senior High School, and has a primary school. After 2007, due to policy factors, Xintianli Investment Group and Shenzhen High School gradually separated. In 2014, the school was repositioned to focus on high school teaching.

Independent private high schools are very rare in Shenzhen, perhaps because of their excellent grades, the school dares to transform. In 2017, the first batch of graduates after the transformation received the college entrance examination test, and the data of the Education Commission showed that its pure cultural re-capitalization rate has reached 11.9%, and the data in 2013 was 4.6%. The school has made great progress, and the re-capitalization rate has an advantage among private schools in Shenzhen. However, the undergraduate rate is 38%, which is only slightly higher than the average data of private schools, and the advantage is not large. Given that the minimum admission score is usually below 300 points, it is not easy to achieve such results.

There is a slight polarisation in the general high school, with more attention paid to the top students in the year group, which is fully reflected in the campus display board – the top 30 students in the year will be honored and exhibited, and the scholarship will be unambiguous. The school will regulate students' behavior and pay attention to cultivating learning and living habits. Mobile phones are not allowed on campus, and courier services are banned to prevent cigarettes from entering the campus. Similar to Fuyuan, the Imperial Garden also advocated queuing and vigorously promoted the "CD-ROM Campaign", which is likely to be criticized and educated if it is "extravagant and wasteful" in the canteen.

Shenzhen has many restrictions on land, and public schools can often get land for education at a low or even zero cost, while private schools do not. Covering an area of only about 30,000 square meters, the school has set up laboratories, sports fields and gymnasiums to meet the specifications of high school facilities, but it is so crowded that some boxing venting facilities are even placed at the corner of the stairs.

Compared with Fuyuan, the Imperial Garden is more relaxed, and the frequency of exams and quizzes is low, and it is not until the third year of high school that the school will start to make up classes. Even the evening self-study is only 2 hours, but there will be a teacher to supervise it. In order to stimulate initiative, the school will also hold its own mathematics competitions, language knowledge competitions, etc., the content of which is not difficult, mainly around the knowledge of textbooks, to compete for training, focus on the college entrance examination.

Like many private schools, Imperial Garden also conducts a second class placement in the first semester of high school, and usually the school will take care of the wishes of students and will not forcibly allocate them. When the number of students is small, students with specialties such as art, vocal music, physical education, and media may be mixed into one or two specialty classes. For "ordinary" college entrance examination candidates, it is best to work hard and squeeze into key classes. The number of key classes is 2, and around 2016, its undergraduate online rate is higher than 50%. Grades are related to talent, but student motivation will also affect the class atmosphere, and sometimes there will be a stronger atmosphere of comparison in parallel classes, and the proportion of "good children" in key classes is higher.

The school dormitory is configured with bunk beds, all of which are 8 people/room, due to the proximity to the port artery, the noise is louder at night, so it is best to wear high-quality sleep earplugs. In contrast, the cafeterias are excellent, and many schools require students to eat in batches according to different grades, and the Imperial Garden has opened two canteens, and the third year of high school receives special attention, especially for breakfast, hamburgers, egg tarts, and fried chicken.
