Liyuan Foreign Chinese Primary School (Liwai) was established in 2004, originally affiliated to Liyuan Primary School, and separated and operated independently in 2012. At present, it is divided into two campuses, east and west, and there is little difference between the two campuses in terms of teachers and teaching.
Liwai pursues "education to the hearts of children", "breathe freely and healthily, and think happily and creatively". Liu Zhongping, the current principal of Liwai, has visited nearly 60 schools in Hong Kong, and his educational philosophy is bold and forward-looking. The school even took the lead in carrying out an experimental course of civic literacy education, allowing students to go into the society, participate in social affairs, interview government departments, understand public policies, and then put forward the policies of their own classes. The boldness and openness of its educational philosophy can also be seen in the school emblem: the school name under the school emblem has changed from the tradition of inviting famous inscriptions to students, but is solicited from students, and finally adopts a six-year-old child's immature font, which fully demonstrates the school's encouragement and trust in students' creativity.
Compared with its strict parent Liyuan Primary School, it has less homework, and is not divided into ordinary classes and key classes, and even in the upper grades, it will not organize sprint classes for small promotions. It focuses on cultivating students' comprehensive literacy such as comprehension, logic, and expression. The school has independently developed school-based curricula such as "Language Literacy", "Mathematical Thinking", "English Characteristics" and "Comprehensive Creativity". As a foreign Chinese language school, it goes without saying that Liwai attaches great importance to English teaching. On top of that, the school also offers courses in minor languages such as Spanish and French.
At present, there are 8 classes and 280 students enrolled in the first year of the East and West campuses. The school requires 7:50 to arrive at school, end at 11:50, order lunch, and end at 4:30 pm. There is no formal daycare at school, so you need to bring your own small mat or sleep on a desk during lunch break. The school district houses in the East Campus are only Xiangmihu No. 1 Ecological Garden (about 142,000 yuan/m2) and Xiangmihu Shuixie Huadu (about 134,000 yuan/m2). There are many rooms in the school district of the West Campus, and it is worth considering the second phase of CTS International Mansion (143,000-168,000 yuan/m2), the Xiangyu Central Garden (152,000-162,000 yuan/m2), and the first phase of CTS International Mansion (136,000-148,000 yuan/m2). The above price information is as of March 2018.
