Line6 is a well-known American effects manufacturer, and its POD series of effects are popular with many musicians. Line6's guitar amp product line is clearly positioned, focusing on low- and mid-price transistor speakers, and finally successfully entered the market with comprehensive and rich amp simulation effects, becoming the fastest emerging transistor speaker brand in recent years.
The most well-known transistor speaker in Line6 is none other than the Spider series. In 2016, Spider launched its latest fifth-generation product, which includes 78 amp simulations, 23 cabinet simulations, 101 effects, a built-in drum machine and metronome, USB connection to a computer, and Line6 original pedal control. Models of 60 W and above support Looper and have a built-in wireless receiver that can be used with transmitters (sold separately). The 120W and 240W versions have a built-in XLR D.I output for easy recording.
Available in 20W, 30W, 60W, 120W and 240W versions, the Spider V covers daily practice, recording, large-scale performances and more. Compared with traditional transistor speakers, the Spider V is more like a speaker with built-in comprehensive effects, and it contains dozens of cabinet simulations and timbre effects that are comparable to more than 2,000 comprehensive effects. It may not be able to compare with a tube speaker in terms of sound realism, or even a transistor speaker from brands such as Roland and Yamaha. But for musicians who like to delve into a variety of effects and piece together unique sounds, the Spider V is a great value for money. The 20W version of the Spider is priced at 1,100 yuan, while the most powerful V240 is priced at 4,600 yuan.
Also launched in the same year as the Spider V is Amplifi, which is available in 30W, 75W and 150W versions. Amplifi's control panel contains only distortion, EQ, reverb, and five preset effects, and most of its features are integrated into the app. Amplifi is one of the few guitar amps on the market with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to choose from hundreds of amps and effects and adjust them individually. The official "Amplifi Remote" has a cloud storage function, so users can share their own sounds with each other. For users who need to perform, the 2600 yuan AMPLIFi 150 and 75 are more practical, while for daily practice, the 1800 yuan AMPLIFi 30 is enough to meet the needs. The Amplifi series excels in clean tone, overdrive, and distortion, and has a wide range of amp cabinets, stompboxes, and peripheral effects for all styles of practice or performance.
