Critical is a sub-brand of Micron, one of the world's largest manufacturers of semiconductor storage and imaging products. In 2012, Micron acquired Japan's Bida Semiconductor, expanding its market share again. Micron is one of the three giants in the DRAM particle market, ranking third with a market share of 23% in 2017.
 
Most of today's memory brands are solution integrators, and the brands themselves are only responsible for developing firmware and assembling it themselves. As a Micron sub-brand, Critical uses Micron's original particles for its products, with high chip stability and reliable quality. However, compared with Kingston and Corsair, Micron sells fewer products in China, and consumers have little room to choose.
 
In July 2018, Fujian Jinhua discovered that more than 10 of Micron's own brand products were suspected of infringing Jinhua's patents and launched a lawsuit against Micron. On July 3, the court ruled that Micron immediately stopped selling and importing more than a dozen Crucial SSDs, memory modules and related chips, and its already small number of products on sale in the Chinese market were cut.
