Master Lock Company was founded in 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA by locksmith-inventor Harry Soref. Master Lock invented the steel mille-feuille lock in 1924, followed by the combination lock in 1935.
In 1931, Harry received the only gold medal from the American Master Locksmiths Association for his greatest contribution to the lock industry over the past 50 years.
