Xiangshan selenium gourd, also known as "Gobi watermelon" and "pressed sand watermelon", grows in the Xiangshan area of Zhongwei City, Ningxia. The watermelon grown in Xiangshan contains selenium that the human body lacks, so it is named "selenium gourd".
Growing environment
Xiangshan pressed sand watermelon base accounts for about 1/3 of the area of Zhongwei City, the Xiangshan area is located in the transition zone between the Mongolian Plateau and the Loess Plateau, the mountains are undulating, nine droughts in ten years, water resources are scarce, the annual precipitation is less than 180 mm, but the evaporation is 2400 mm, which is one of the driest places in China. The alluvial fan area of Xiangshan is silted with gravel gravel, which contains a variety of minerals, especially the accumulation of selenium, which is scarce in food, due to the special climatic environment and years of bare sun. It is also the only area in China suitable for planting high-quality selenium gourd.

Among them, it contains 18 kinds of amino acids, 3 kinds of vitamins and 5 kinds of trace elements, including 56mg/kg of calcium, 1090mg/kg of potassium, 0.0056mg/kg of selenium and trace elements such as zinc.
