In 1986, GCP (then a division of Grace Corporation) became one of the first wholly foreign-owned enterprises to obtain a business license issued by the People's Republic of China and traded under the name of Grace China Limited. In 2016, the company's legal name was officially changed to GCP. Grace completed the spin-off into two separate companies: Grace and GCP Applied Technologies, Inc. (GCP). GCP was spun off from Grace's Building Products and Packaging Technologies businesses.
At present, its business scope covers six continents around the world, serving customers in 110 countries and regions around the world. There are six production plants, four sales offices and one technical service center in China. In April 2016, GCP expanded its operations in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area with the addition of a new laboratory and office.
In its 30 years in China, GCP has developed a number of products tailored to the Chinese market, including PVtm100 pre-laid polymer self-adhesive membrane waterproofing membrane, YTLtm-C (RB) root-puncture resistant polymer waterproofing membrane for green roofing, admixtures for high-strength and high-performance concrete, and cement additives customized to meet China's production, energy consumption and environmental requirements.
Grace Catalyst TechnologiesIn 2012, it acquired the assets of Qingdao Shida Excellence Technology Co., Ltd. (Noblestar Catalysts) to produce fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts and other related products for the refining industry. The base provides products and services to China and other fast-growing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Grace's UNIPOL® polypropylene process technology and catalyst business has been serving customers in China for many years.
Grace Materials Technologies Business UnitThe sales center and technical service center branch were established in Shanghai in 1994 and 2002 to provide services for coating applications. In 2006, we also opened a Grace Packaging Technology Sales Center and Technical Service Laboratory in Shanghai to serve customers in the pharmaceutical, paints and coatings, and personal care products industries. Grace Corporation opened a manufacturing plant in Shanghai's Minhang Economic Development Zone in 1986 and has been supporting the local economy and employment since its inception.
