The DuPont China R&D Center in Shanghai was officially opened in 2005 and completed the second phase of expansion in 2013. December 11, 2015, DuPont (NYSE:DD) and The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) announced that their boards of directors have unanimously approved an equal merger agreement. The combined company will be named DowDuPont. The parties said they will seek to spin off DowDuPont into three separate public companies by way of tax-free divestiture. Subject to regulatory and board approvals, the separation will commence as soon as possible and is expected to take place within 18-24 months of the completion of the merger.
