Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, also known as Hitachi GST, today announced that it has changed its name to HGST following the acquisition of Western Digital Corporation (WDC) in March 2012.
In order to comply with the relevant antitrust regulations, HGST and WD are currently two independent subsidiaries of WDC, with different brands and product lines.
After the name change, HGST's existing business and products will not be affected. With the exception of the discontinued products, the rest of HGST's products will continue to be sold. HGST will also honour the warranty period of the product.
