Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (China) Co., Ltd., founded in Japan in 1884, is an important part of the Mitsubishi Group, a large-scale Japanese heavy industry manufacturer, and a well-known military production enterprise
The predecessor of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries can be traced back to the Meiji Restoration. In 1884, Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of Mitsubishi, leased the Nagasaki Shipbuilding Bureau of the Ministry of Industry from the government, naming it Nagasaki Shipyard, which has since developed into Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. By 1934, the company was renamed Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. as its business expanded to include heavy machinery, aircraft, and railway vehicles.
After the end of World War II, due to the policy of dismantling the chaebol by the U.S. occupation authorities, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was divided into three companies in 1950: West Japan Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Central Nippon Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., and East Japan Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. However, in 1964, the three companies merged and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was rebuilt. During this period, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' automotive division became independent in 1970 as Mitsubishi Motor Industry Co., Ltd.
Founded in 1884, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is one of Japan's largest heavy industry manufacturers with the ability to manufacture more than 700 products.
