In the early 20s of the 20th century, Max Braun founded a machine building workshop in Frankfurt, Germany. With its pioneering invention in the burgeoning radio broadcasting industry, the company opened its own factory in 1928 with 400 employees.
In 1950, Braun added new designs to its product range that simplified people's daily lives, with the introduction of the thin-slice shaver and the launch of the Multimix food processor in the same year, opening up the market for the company's household appliances
After Max Braun's death, his sons took over the company in the early fifties. They laid the foundation for a people-first corporate culture that extends to all areas of the company – from letterhead to booths, from health services to natural health food cafeterias. With the support of legendary designer Dieter Rams, Braun is setting a new standard in the design of new, functional products.
At the end of the sixties, Gillette acquired the successful 5,700-employee company. This opens up completely new markets and distribution channels for Braun. The external investment increased the company's ability to innovate and expanded its product range, soon adding a new range of coffee machines and irons. Typical German design, quality and engineering make Braun products stand out from the competition at a low price.
In 2005, Gillette was acquired by Procter & Gamble, making Braun one of the top 24 global brands of the world's largest consumer goods group. In 2012, Procter & Gamble transferred the rights to use its Braun brand in the home appliance sector to the Italian Group De'Longhi. Together with the corresponding patents and production facilities, De'Longhi also acquires the majority of Braun's employees, thus ensuring that Braun home appliances will continue to offer unique design, technological innovation and reliable quality in the future.
