Starting with a small workshop in Paris...

In 1880, the Parisian pigment merchant Moise Haguenauer founded the Seigneurie Lacquer Company. He set up his company in Paris and sells the raw materials needed to make coatings to architectural coatings: linseed oil, essential oils, white primers and colorants.

The family business moved to Pantin in 1911 and was taken over by the founder's son.

In 1919, after the business was interrupted by the war, the two brothers took up their business and made a very bold decision to manufacture and sell ready-to-use paint. They transformed from businessmen to manufacturers. The company continues to grow, setting up workshops and laboratories to research and test new formulations.

In 1930, the name of the company was "Les fils de M Haguenauer Ainés", with the addition of "Usines de La Seigneurie", the name of a district in Pantin, where the company was founded.

The Bobigny plant was built in 1953, followed by the Genlis plant in 1963, which still manufactures a wide range of branded products. In 1968, the company moved from Pantin to Bogigny and changed its name to "La Seigneurie".

In the seventies, La Seigneurie collaborated with the Société Nationale des Pétroles d'Aquitaine (later Elf Aqauitaine) for the company's development in the French and international markets, and then merged into the entire group.

In 2007, Seigneurie ® joined PPG Industries' Architectural Coatings EMEA division.

Now distributed in more than 200 points of sale in mainland France, Seigneurie ® is also a leader in the European Overseas Market (DOM-TOM) and in Africa, and has long been used for important projects in Spain, Portugal or Asia, especially in China.
