A brief history of development

In 1806, the Paint & Color retail store opened, marking the beginning of Valspar's history in the coatings industry. For nearly 200 years, Valspar has been a leader and innovator in coatings, and in 1830 the U.S. transatlantic fleet began using Valspar's paints. In 1927, Valspar's coatings were used in aircraft manufacturing, and Valspar achieved great success in the defense and military field, which was full of high-tech competition. To this day, the warplanes and warships that cruise around the world in the United States still shine with the light of Valspar's paint.

In the field of architectural coatings, Valspar's products also have an unusual experience. In 1870, linseed oil was first used in the production of paints, and became the leader of a series of hybrid paints.

In 1906, non-whitening paint was introduced. Accounting for 40% of Valspar's production of architectural coatings, its weather resistance, environmental protection and ease of construction have made it possible to use Valspar coatings to paint buildings in major cities and rural areas in the United States, including the famous NBA Chicago "Bulls Home" Union Center Basketball Stadium.

Of particular interest in the Chinese market is the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, one of Asia's most iconic buildings painted with Valspar products, like a giant ship ready to sail, with folds and glittering docked in the azure bay.
