Formica was founded in 1913 by Herbert A. Faber and Daniel OConon in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. At the beginning of the establishment, the products manufactured were fire-resistant, moisture-resistant and high-temperature resistant, and were named Formica because they were used to replace mica sheets.

For more than 100 years, Formica has been researching and developing new technologies for surface trim materials, with popular colors, patterns, natural stone grain wood grains and other surface treatments and applications, to produce a wide variety of surface trim materials. The elevator you take, the kitchen countertop where you cook your food, and even the bathroom cubicle you use are all part of Formica®. At present, the surface decoration products produced by Formica are widely used in furniture, cubicles, kitchen furniture, trains, cars, cabinets, ships, elevators, etc.

Formica is widely favored by designers and architects from all walks of life, not only because of its insistence on quality improvement and service level, but especially because of its continuous research and development and innovation of decorative materials, so that the master's spirit can be more creative. Whether it's a public space or a private home, Formica's® nearly 100-year-old brand story will continue to create more spatial legends through the designer's work and your own experience.

Formica not only has companies and production plants in Europe, the United States and Australia around the world, but also attaches more importance to the development in Asia. In 1970, in view of the improvement of living standards and the booming economy in Asia, the head office officially established the first office in Hong Kong in order to grasp business opportunities in time. In the early days, the products were supplied directly from New Zealand to Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

In the early 80s, in order to meet the needs of customers in Asia and improve service quality, in 1981, the company established the building materials department of Taiwan Cyanamide Company, and in 1982, the first manufacturing plant in Asia was established in Taiwan. In addition to all-round supply of market demand, but also to establish a high-quality corporate image. In 1985, in order to further expand the field of professional services and establish the position of a leading brand of surface decoration materials, Formica Company officially separated from the system of the American Cyanamide Company.

In the late 80s, Formica began to set up offices in various regions of Asia, such as Singapore, Shanghai, Malaysia, South Korea and other places, hoping to build a more complete service network. In the 90s, due to the maturity of the Asian market, companies were established in Singapore, Shanghai, Malaysia, South Korea and other places. To date, Formica has set up eight companies in Asia.

At the end of the 20th century, in order to grasp the business opportunities in Asia, in addition to the establishment of the first cooperative enterprise - Shanghai Furama Company, in 1994 - Shanghai Furama Company - joint venture, and the second manufacturing plant in Asia was set up in Qingpu County, Shanghai.

In 1997, in order to meet the needs of the larger market demand, the Taiwan factory expanded the plant area with the full support of the head office, added a third production line, and launched large-size products. This move is not only an increase in production capacity, but also shows the diversification of Formica's products, which can not only meet customers' preferences and utilization rates of products, but also strengthen the service quality and market competitiveness.

In 2000, the more exciting news was that Formica acquired the operations of Pust Finishes around the world. In May, Prime's manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand, was officially integrated into Formica's manufacturing lineup, enabling Formica to offer a wider range of products and further enhance customer satisfaction.

In addition to the current eight companies and three factories in Asia, we have also set up branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Chengdu in Chinese mainland, Dalian, Shenyang, Tianjin, Qingdao, Xi'an and Chongqing in North China, Suzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Zhengzhou in East China, and Xiamen in South China to serve our customers. In addition, we are also actively evaluating other potential regions in Asia, such as Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc., and will set up sales outlets at appropriate times to strengthen the overall business development of Formica in Asia.
