TetraPak brand introduction

TetraPak logo

Tetra Pak Packaging (Beijing) Co., Ltd., founded in Sweden in 1951, is one of the top ten printing and packaging brands, an early packaging company for liquid milk, a well-known supplier of liquid food packaging system solutions, and the world's largest food packaging company

Back in the 50s of the 20th century, Tetra Pak was one of the first companies to offer packaging for liquid milk. Since then, it has become one of the world's largest suppliers of packaging systems for milk, juices, beverages and many other products.

In 1991, Tetra Pak's production was extended to liquid food processing equipment, plant engineering and cheese production equipment. Today, it is the world's largest international company in the world that provides integrated processing equipment, packaging and distribution lines, as well as design solutions for liquid food production plants.

Tetra Pak has 57 sales companies, 48 licensed packaging plants and 12 packaging machine assembly plants worldwide. The company has 20,261 employees and generated net sales of approximately 8,107 million euros in 2005. Tetra Pak's products are sold in more than 165 markets. In 2005, the company produced 120.8 billion packages and supplied 64.4 billion litres of liquid food products to consumers worldwide.

Tetra Pak has always followed the motto of the company's founder, Dr. Ruben Rausing: "The savings from packaging should outweigh its own costs." The essence of this phrase is "cost savings". Tetra Pak has always sought to save costs for manufacturers in the production, transportation and sales of food, while also bringing safety and convenience to consumers. It is worth mentioning that Tetra Pak also places equal emphasis on saving in the product development process. On the premise of maintaining the same packaging performance, the use of cardboard in Tetra Pak has been reduced by 18% after a long period of effort; The thickness of the aluminum foil has also been reduced by 30%; On the other hand, all Tetra Pak packages can be recycled and reused into stationery, tables and chairs, building materials, etc., so that they can be "discarded without throwing away" after completing the function of the package. This quest for Tetra Pak stands in stark contrast to the sometimes rampant over-packaging in the market. We really want to see more modest packaging like Tetra Pak and less luxury mooncakes like luxury over-packaging.

Tetra Pak in China

Founded in 1951, Tetra Pak entered the Chinese market as early as 1972. From China's reform and opening up to China's accession to the World Trade Organization, Tetra Pak has always believed in the business philosophy of "growing together with Chinese customers", is committed to implementing the mission of "ensuring that safe food is accessible everywhere", constantly introduces advanced technical equipment and perfect supporting services to China, and actively promotes the localization process of production services, playing an important role in the field of liquid food packaging in China.

Tetra Pak's big customer in China is Yili, which started as a small dairy that mainly served the surrounding areas of Hohhot. The company has always wanted to send high-quality and low-cost local dairy products to the whole country, especially in southern China, where dairy products are growing rapidly, but it has struggled with a Chinese packaging supplier suitable for long-distance transportation. With the help of Tetra Pak, the well-preserved dairy products shipped from Hohhot quickly opened up in South China. Since 1997, when Yili purchased its first filling machine from Tetra Pak, by the end of 2002, Tetra Pak had supplied 61 production lines to Yili.

Tetra Pak's customers include Yili, Guangming, Sanyuan, Mengniu, Wahaha, Huiyuan and other domestic dairy and juice beverage industry giants, and has established more than 800 production lines across the country, as long as these lines can maintain stable production, Tetra Pak will continue to provide them with Tetra Pak packaging paper. At present, in this industry, almost all profits come from selling packaging paper.

Currently, 70% of Tetra Pak China's business is in the dairy industry. In 2001 alone, Yili produced about 200,000 tons of UHT milk in Tetra Pak packaging, a 250ml Tetra Pak box, and its market price was about 4 jiao, so you can imagine how profitable Tetra Pak is.

Since its establishment in 1994, Tetra Pak Huaxin Packaging Co., Ltd., which is 75% owned by Tetra Pak, has completed the first step of its layout in China: it has set up offices in nine key cities including Shanghai and Beijing; It has four joint venture factories in Beijing, Foshan and Kunshan, and has established a distribution network all over the country, and its China headquarters has officially moved from Hong Kong to Shanghai.
